Praise and Worship

Everything we do in life, and all that we seek to do when we gather as a church, is worship. We love to sing together as God’s family, blending Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, seeking to cultivate worship which is thoughtful, reverent, and focussed around the perfections and grace of God.

Fellowship

Fellowship simply describes Christians getting together to share their common faith, and to encourage one another. This takes many forms in MBC, from our weekly services, praying for one another daily, caring for one another in crisis, and having social gatherings to enjoy one another’s company. We are a warmhearted group, and we love nothing more than new folk coming along to our meetings and get-togethers.

WOmen’s Fellowship

Women’s Fellowship meets on the first Monday of each month, and designed to be an event where women can enjoy one another’s company, be enriched by fellowship, learn about mission, and receive Bible teaching which is relevant to their daily lives. Women of all ages are welcome, and we love to see new people coming along.

Men’s Fellowship

Men’s Fellowship meets several times each year, with a varied programme which normally involves food of some kind! Our meetings are an opportunity to get to know one another better, enjoy fellowship, and learn together from God’s Word. New attendees are always made very welcome, and this is a great way to get to know other men in the church.

We meet on the third Thursday of each month, September to April: this is a warmhearted and caring get together for senior citizens. You are welcome to come along for a cup of tea, a good chat, and an enriching message from God’s Word.

In addition to our two full-time elders (Andrew and George), the church is blessed by the ministry of Stuart Burnham, Don Coulter, Richard Donnan, and Paul Dowie. These men bring a wealth of experience from life and ministry, and seek to serve the Lord Jesus Christ through teaching, care, and encouragement of the church fellowship.

Deacons (not pictured)

Our deacons diligently serve the physical and practical needs of our church, providing leadership and care to our members, and the buildings in which we meet.

Our BUilding: Then

Our building was not originally constructed as a church. The father and uncle of Millisle’s most famous daughter, Amy Carmichael, wished to provide education for the children of the village, and erected a school house to meet those needs. On Sunday evenings the building was used for gospel services, and it is our privilege to continue that heritage today.

Our building: Now

After its discontinuation as a schoolhouse in the 20th century, the building lay dormant and derelict for quite some time. The site was purchased and refurbished in the 1980s, retaining the distinctive and historic features of the schoolhouse, while developing a suite of halls and meeting rooms which continue to meet our needs as a church family. Our building is a blessing for which we are grateful to God.
